Pacha Manga Chammanthi (Raw Mango Chutney)

Its been quite a while since i have put a post.  Actually i was on vacation last month to India, my home town. This was our first visit after marriage and our first Onam (festival celebrated in Kerala) with both the families.  Had a gala  good time making pookkalam (flower carpet), and eating sadhya’s ( feast of the people of Kerala) and getting onakkodi (new clothes)…..:)

Now i am back to my normal routines here in Richmond. The fall here, is almost 60%. Yesterday, we had kanji (rice soup) and chammanthi for dinner.  WOw….it tasted yum!!!! Thought to share with you the recipe of Pachamanga Chammanthi.


Raw Mango,washed & peeled – 1/2 of  it or less (add according to the sourness required)
Coconut,  grated – 1/2 cup
shallots – 4
green chilly – 5
curry leaves – 4-5
ginger – 1/2 tsp
salt  – to  taste
water –  enough to grind (about 1/4 cup)


Grind all the ingredients above in a mixie/grinder.  Chammanthi is ready.
