I am a great fan of seafood. I love it more than any meat. In this post, i am sharing how to prepare chemmeen olathiyathu which can be used as a side dish for rice.
Prawns(deveined, de-shelled)- 1 lbs
Kudampuli/gambooge – 3
salt- as required
turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
water – 1/2 cup
onion (medium sized,cut fine)- 2
garlic,crushed-10 small cloves
chilly powder – 1 tsp
curry leaves -4
coconut,scrapped – 1/2 cup
Cook the deveined and de-shelled prawns in half cup water with adequate amount of salt,turmeric powder and gambooge. It may take about 10-15 mins., in medium heat.
Let all the water in it dry. Keep it aside.
Heat oil in a pan and saute the onions till translucent and keep it aside.
In the same pan, saute the crushed garlic for 2-3 mins.and add in the chilly powder and curry leaves. Saute for another minute or two.
Then add in the grated coconut, onion and cooked shrimp.
