Crab Masala

CRAB …slurp…..just love the way it looks and the way it makes me hungry!!!
It was in my childhood that i was introduced to this yummy dish when i was on my vacation stay at my aunts house.  Aunt asked me whether i have had crabs before, to which i said a big NO!!! In our house we never used to cook crab. I think nobody was interested in taking pains to break open the shells!!!
But after my visit to my aunts house, this was the topic i used to discuss each and every day.
And you know what??? In my house too we tried this dish due to my sheer compulsion…
and everyone is a big fan of it now….
and i am soo…..happy about it.

SO now, R U READY??????Here goes the recipe of Crab Masala


crab( medium) – 2 nos. (cleaned,cooked)
chilly powder – 1 tsp
coriander powder – 1 tbsp
turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
pepper powder – 1 tbsp
onion(chopped) – 1+ 1/2
ginger garlic paste -1 tbsp
curry leaves – 5 nos.
lemon juice of -1
salt – as required
oil – as required
water – 1/2 cup


Marinate the cooked small pieces of crab(with shell) with salt and lemon juice and keep for an hour.
Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan and saute onion, ginger garlic paste, and curry leaves. Once the rawness has gone,add all the powders said above an saute it till the oil appears.
Add marinated crab and half cup water to the sauted masala.
Close with a lid and cook for almost 10 mins.
Open the lid and cook till the gravy becomes thick.

Can be served with rice,kappa.
