Vendakka/Okra Roast


vendakka, small (as a whole with sides slit in the middle)- 15 nos.
oil – 2 tbsp
mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
green chilly,slit – 4
onion – 2
ginger,chopped – a small piece
tomato,chopped – 2
red chilly powder – 1/2 tsp
turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
curry leaves – a sprig


Heat oil in a pan and splutter the mustard seeds.
put in the green chilly,onion,ginger,curry leaves and saute till the onion turns golden brown.
Add chopped tomato fry for a minute or two, followed by chilly powder, turmeric powder and toss it well for a minute.
now adding the vendakka,salt and sprinkle some water and cook it covered.
Serve hot with rice.
