Beetroot Vendakka/Okra Pachadi

This is another way in which a pachadi can be prepared.


oil – 2 tbsp
mustard seeds -1/2 tsp
dry red chilly – 3
curry leaves – a few
beetroot,scrapped – 1 medium size
salt – to taste
yogurt – 1 cup
okra – 3-4 nos. (cut and fried in oil)

to grind

coconut,scrapped – 1 cup
green chilly -4
mustard seeds – a few
jeerakam – a few


Heat oil in a pan and put in the mustard seeds,dry red chilly, curry leaves. Stir for 1 minute or so.
Then add in the grated beetroot and stir till the raw smell of the beetroot is no more.
Add-in the ground mixture.
Add salt and yogurt and be sure that the stove is in low flame.Take off it from the stove after 2-3 mins.
Garnish with fried okra.Serve with rice.
