Gothambu Aluva / Wheat Halwa

I can say that gothambu halwa is one of the easiest halwa to make and is yummy too…..Give it a try and see for yourself.


ghee – 1 cup
gothambu podi/wheat -1 cup
sugar – 3/4 cup
water – 1 1/2 cup
pista/badam,sliced fine (to garnish)- 2 tbsp


Heat ghee in the frying pan on low-medium heat.Once hot,put in the wheat.Continue stirring until you get a good brown color.
Next add sugar and water and continue stirring.Once it becomes thick ,switch off the stove and transfer it into a greased pan.Smoothen the surface of to about a quarter inch thick.
Let cool.
Cut into 1-inch squares or any shape you like.
