Paalappam (Kuttanadan Version)


Rice Flour – 2 cups
Rava (Semolina) – 2 tbsp
Coconut Milk – 1/2 cup
Yeast – 1 tsp
Sugar – 3 tbsp
Salt – to taste
Water – as needed


Cook rava in 2 cups of water,till there is no water left.Once the rava paste is cool, in a  bowl  combine Rice Flour, coconut milk, yeast, rava paste and sugar.Add enough water may be around 1/2 cup (make sure the batter is thick enough and not watery).

Leave this in a warm place for around 8 hours and allow it to ferment.

At the time of making the appam,add salt.
