Kappa/Yuca/Tapioca Kuzhachathu


Tapioca -500g
Coconut,grated -1 1/4 cup
Green chillies – 4
Salt-to taste
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp

For seasoning:

Oil – 4-5 tsp
Dry red chilly – 4-5
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Shallots -5-6
Curry leaves- 1 sprig


Chop the tapioca into small pieces .
Cook the tapioca in a pressure cooker adding salt and a little water.
Drain the boiled tapioca.

Meanwhile, grind together the grated coconut, green chillies and turmeric powder.

In a pan, add the boiled tapioca and ground ingredients. Mix well.
Cook on medium flame for 3-4 mins so that the raw taste of the ground ingredients is no more present.

For seasoning:

In a pan, heat oil. Add all the ingredients mentioned under “for seasoning”. Fry till the shallots turn light brown.
Pour this over the mashed tapioca and mix well. Serve hot with fish curry or have it as it is.:)
