Uppumavu is made with Semolina /Rava. Uppumavu made with vegetables makes it nutritious.

Ingredients –serves 2

Roasted  rava (semolina)-1 cup
Onion (finely chopped)- 1
Carrot (finely chopped)- 2 tsp
Ginger – 1 small tsp
Green chillies (finely chopped)- 1
Curry leaves
Mustard seeds-1 small tsp
Ghee-2 big tsp
Water-1 cup


In a pan with ghee, splutter mustard seeds. Then put onion,carrot,ginger,greenchilly and curry  leaves. Once the onion turns translucent pour in water and add salt as needed. Once the water starts to boil, add the roasted rava, turn down the heat, and mix quickly to avoid lumps forming.
