Idli is a south Indian dish. It is made by steaming a batter consisting of Urad dal/Uzhunnu and rice. Idlis are usually served in pairs with chutney and sambar.For making idli we need idli thattu and a steamer.
Ingredients – serves 2
Raw rice-1 ¾ cup*
Urad dal/Uzhunnu-1 cup*
*have to keep soaked in water for nearly 8 hrs. Grind it. Mix all the 3 together with hand and add salt to it. Keep this batter in such a way that it has contact with air so that the batter rises.
Grease the idli thattu and fill each of them with 3/4th full of batter. Keep it inside the steamer to bake it.
